So it turns out that cutting a pumpkin into pieces that fit into the oven requires the presence of a man who knows how to use a knife.

Good thing I have one.

After cooking for a few hours the pumpkins is good and soft and ready to puree.

For something

or other

Anyone got any ideas what I can do with 5 gallons of pureed pumpkin?

On a happier note, I really like OJ and Cherry vodka, in case you were wondering.

Thanks to Jimbo for turning me on to Three Olives Vodka

I spent the evening listening to Pete and RePete talking and playing. Things were not going well in the House of Holder. Pete wanted to express her Power over her sister, and RePete was just too tired to put up with it. They spent the last hour in separate rooms, just chilling. Pete was channeling me every time her sister did something close to out of line and ran out of Patience last Wednesday. She's been short fused ever since. I can only imagine the horrors that await us when she starts her period. RePete, the ever-fragile, took every remonstration as a Bitching Out from on High. She responded with Hysterics. Every time she came to me my first response was "Get over it". Not sure I was much help tonight.

Of course I did manage to roast a huge pumpkin and puree about 3/5 of it. I'll end up with 6 gallon sized baggies of pureed pumpkin.

I'm thinking pie.

I wouldn't eat pumpkin pie growing up. It looked like orange vomit. It has the texture of slop. Now, I ca neat it some, as long as I make it.

I quit my job today.

Mentally, anyway.

I'll be better Monday. I'll remember why I love teaching and will be able to handle it. I am defeated right now. I give up. I don't know how to reach my students or make their parents understand that the easy way is not the right way. I can't convince them that learning and understanding are the point. I have pointed the way to success and still they jump off the cliff in/to stupidity.

"cliff in/to stupidity"

It's right next to the 'Cliffs of Insanity', where I often find myself in my classroom.
