Small Joys

We lived in a little house on Luna Drive somewhere is Houston when I was in the second grade. We had a fenced in yard with a pomegranate tree. I would play GI Joe with my brother, pick pecans out of the neighbors yard, or ride my bike up to the store and get a piece of bubble gum. The sewer system must have really been terrible because part of the street we lived on would flood after a good rain, but that was when things got good. We would ride our bikes all hell bent for leather into the water and the pick our feet up- whoooosh! The trick was not to fall over.

Matter of fact, whenever I see a goodish sized pool of water I cannot resist veering the car over to run through it. A small joy, but one I highly recommend.
