The Extra Mile
Truett Cathy tells his people to say "My Pleasure" instead of "You're Welcome" and to go the second mile. To go above and beyond in customer service. The term comes from biblical times. When a Roman soldier told you to carry his pack, you were obligated to carry it one mile. Then you could put it down. Jesus, the story goes, told his people to go two miles.
To go the extra mile.
How many times have you heard that and not known the origin of that phrase?
Mr. Cathy also says to not compare yourself to others, but to your own abilities. Are you doing your best today? How can you make it better?
I really like that. Words to live by this year.....
