I would love to know what sort of scientific discoveries from the LHC will "trickle down" to us non-scientific types. My teenager and I were reading about it yesterday - and clicked the links to define "dark matter", "anti-matter" and "supersymmetry". Waaaay over my head! The teen is knee-deep in Chemistry this semester, but in Physics next, so she may learn. I will continue to sing the 'Big Bang Theory' theme song.
My money's on a black hole that swallows us all.
